The Sandpit from Sam O'Hare on Vimeo.
One of my fellow Facebook friends posted this video on her profile page, and I thought it worthy enough to share with you all here. “The Sandpit” – A day in the life of New York City in minature is a short film by Aéro Director Sam O’Hare. The music is composed by Human, a music and sound design company. The film is a series of still photographs, which in turn were digitally edited to create a “miniature world” – an effect known as tilt-shift. Tilt shift create an optical illusion that makes scenes appear as if they are miniature models. The outer edges are blurred which tricks the eye into perceiving everything in the unblurred parts as miniature.
More details on the creation of this film can be found at the Aéro Film blog. And for any budding tilt-shifters out there, here is an easy-to-follow tutorial from Visual Photo Guide on How to Make Fake Miniature Scenes
