Louis Jordan and the Tympany Five
And so it continues. I started out on Monday with the Beach Boys having “Fun, Fun, Fun“, which led me on to Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode“, and today here I am with Louis Jordan, a famed pioneer of Jazz, Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues music. The connection between the three songs is the introduction – almost note perfect on all three songs. Louis Jordan and his Tympany Five (the name his backing band were known) were most famous in the late 30’s and early 40’s and recorded several hit records which were widely popular. “Ain’t That Just Like a Woman” was released in 1946, over a decade before “Johnny B. Goode” and nearly two decades before “Fun, Fun, Fun”, which shows the longevity of the music Louis Jordan and his band were creating.
