Pawley's Island, South Carolina
Sometimes, you come across a song that has special meaning to you. This is one of those. In 1968, James Taylor recorded this song whilst working in England, for Apple Music, the record label owned by The Beatles. Taylor, born in Boston but and raised in North Carolina was writing about homesickness. The reason I’m pining for the Carolina’s isn’t because of a longing for home – home for me is Upstate New York, or Yorkshire, in England. No, the reason I’m pining, specifically for Pawley’s Island in South Caroline is because that is where our family spent a vacation last Easter. We are hoping to be back there again this year – the sea, surf, beaches and tranquility are a million miles from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Who wouldn’t want to spend some quality time in the Carolina’s?
