OK, I know this is not about the turkey you eat for your Thanksgiving/ Christmas feast, but I just had to post.

The real meaning is pretty obvious when reading the lyrics on this track – it’s about the physical effects on the body due to a withdrawal from an addiction to heroin – “Cold Turkey” means abruptly stopping drug use. Lennon originally presented this song to The Beatles as possible material for the Abbey Road album, but was turned down. Instead, he recorded it with “The Plastic Ono Band”. Cold Turkey was Lennon’s second single release and his first that was entirely credited to himself (his first single, “Give Peace a Chance”, was a Lennon-McCartney track.
