Razorlight, an Anglo-Swedish band that was formed in 2002 are nothing new. But I love them, and I’m surprised to learn that I hadn’t previously posted one of their tracks. Their debut album, “Up All Night” was released in 2004, and billed the band as the UK’s very own version of The Strokes. The music is similar to The Strokes, without Julian Casablancas’ raspy vocals. The Doors, Supertramp, Lou Reed also come to mind when I listen to Razorlight.
“In The City” starts out with a solitary guitar and Johnny Borrell’s distinctive voice then builds into the Razorlight-version of what a city at night sounds like – the traffic, lights, and hustle of city nightlife are all contained within a few lines and guitar chords.
Razorlight have since released two further albums, “Razorlight” in 2006 and “Slipway Fires” in 2008. For the latest news and more of a biography on Razorlight, check out the Razorlight NME artist page.
