This song reminds me of a wedding I went to a few years ago. The reception was awesome, up until the point where song requests started reaching the DJ. One of the wedding guests, who we will refer to only as Mr 80’s guy (we don’t actually know his name or even if he was an invited guest at the wedding), was in his element. First came the 80’s songs. That wasn’t enough. Next came the karaoke and 80’s songs. Mr 80’s guy, cocktail, hairstyle and suit included, had soon cleared the dance floor. Party Over. I don’t imagine this track made it to the turntables, but it must have come pretty close.
Johnny Hates Jazz were a Sophisti-pop group (radio-friendly pop music with a twist of jazz) from Britain that were active in the late 80’s. They recently got back together and are planning a new album and tour for 2010. I never understood the appeal of 80’s music, but I know I have more than one regular that loves and lives for this genre of music, so here you go, here is my treat for you!
