Rockabilly, 50’s Rock n’ Roll, Bluesy, Jazzy, did I miss anything? Imelda May is touted as the next big star. I’m not sure how high up she ranks on American shores – she has aims of breaking into the US market – but the Irish (her nationality) and British press are all over her. Her latest album, Love Tattoo was recently released in the US and has received awesome reviews.
Johnny Got a Boom Boom is the kind of song you might expect to hear at the dance hall your Grandmother used to frequent in her youth. With a few exceptions: The band are plugged in and play louder, the dancers rock it out, even the disco ball bounces off the walls, and I didn’t even mention Imelda’s rocking voice! Imelda May provides that kind of energy behind her music, and the beat stays with you far longer than it takes for the music to echo around the inside of your head.
You like what you hear above? Well, maybe you’d like to hear the rest of “Love tattoo” by Imelda May, read on!
