“In My Life” is a Lennon-McCartney song, written in 1965 for the Rubber Soul album and is a gentle lullaby-sounding tack that reminiscences about Lennon’s childhood.

There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain

Although the melody of this song is soft and sweet, the ownership over which Beatle wrote the tune is more disputed. McCartney claims that Lennon contributed to the words, whilst he wrote the melody, Lennon claims that he contributed the harmony and middle eight. Whoever and however they wrote the song we will probably never know, but unless you are a music historian or Beatles fanatic, it isn’t all that important. This is a classic Beatles track, on a classic Beatles album, and that is all that matters.

All week, we are celebrating the 9-9-09 launch of “The Beatles: Rock Band” edition and the release of their digitally reamastered studio albums. Check out my other Beatles related posts here.
